Wedding Anniversary Week: Flowers Fresh from the Garden

Wedding Anniversary Week: Flowers Fresh from the Garden | Red-Handled Scissors

In addition to having a gorgeous farm in Vermont, my in-laws, Doug and Lisa, have an absolutely amazing vegetable and flower garden. When we asked them to host our wedding, we knew that we were asking a lot, but we never could have imagined all the time, care, and planning that they would so lovingly give to making our day beautiful.

Enlisting the help of an expert gardener, Doug and Lisa worked all summer to groom the flowerbeds, choosing plants and flowers that would be in full bloom in early autumn. When the wedding weekend finally rolled around, the garden was full and colorful, and everything looked absolutely perfect.

All of our bouquets and boutonnieres were cut fresh from the fall-blooming flowers. We also decorated the tables and outdoor areas with gourds and pumpkins from the vegetable garden, and invited our guests to cut flowers for their table centerpieces on their way to the reception tent. Because nothing was uniform, everything looked warm, creative, and colorful.
